Our Board of Education Endorsements

Families for San Francisco recommends you vote to ELECT ALL THREE APPOINTED BOARD OF EDUCATION COMMISSIONERS:

Vote to elect Ann Hsu

Vote to elect Lainie Motamedi

Vote to elect Lisa Weissman-Ward

Back in January, when we endorsed the recall of all three Board of Education commissioners, we wrote, “Our public school system is in crisis. The power is now in your hands to start changing things for the better.” 

Thanks to the success of the recall and the three excellent appointments made by the mayor, our public school system is on the path to reform. Now the power is in your hands to make sure we stay on that path and keep moving forwards.

Since the three appointed commissioners started in March, the Board of Education has:

• Committed itself to focus on student outcomes 

• Reformed its board governance principles and procedures

• Hired a promising new superintendent

• Passed a balanced budget

• Resolved the lawsuit over the Washington High School murals

• Begun engaging authentically with the entire parent and student community

This election is a choice between continuing with reform or going back to the old way of operating. The only way to consolidate the gains from the recall is to elect all three appointed Board of Education commissioners.
