Our Board of Education Recall Endorsements

Ballots will soon be mailed for the February 15 Consolidated Special Municipal Election. Votes can be cast either by mail up until Election Day or in person on February 15.

The most high profile election on the ballot will be whether or not to recall each one of these Board of Education commissioners: (a) Alison Collins; (b) Gabriela López; (c) Faauuga Moliga.

Families for San Francisco recommends you vote YES on ALL THREE RECALLS.

Vote YES on Prop A to recall Alison Collins

Vote YES on Prop B to recall Gabriela López

Vote YES on Prop C to recall Faauuga Moliga

We take very seriously the high bar that must be cleared to justify a recall.

Last May, we published our take on the SF School Board Recall at that time. We thought hard about what principles should be applied when evaluating recalls in California.

Back in May, we decided Alison Collins and Gabriela López cleared the bar to be recalled. Our conviction on these two was so strong that we decided to have our arguments to recall Collins and López appear among the paid arguments on the ballot guide.

When considering back in May whether to recall Faauuga Moliga, we noted that although his performance had been “sub-par,” his poor performance did not at that time clear the high bar to justify recall. We have watched Moliga closely since May to determine our final decision.

Based on our close observation of Moliga since May, we now believe he clearly meets the standard for recall.

Our public school system is in crisis. The power is now in your hands to start changing things for the better. Vote YES to recall all three Board of Education commissioners.
